Hadrian's Wall was built to mark the northern limit of the Roman Empire in Brittania (Britain) during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. The wall was begun in AD 122 by order of the Emperor.

Hadrian's Wall was built from turf and stone and the building project was started in AD 122 by order of Emperor Hadrian.

Hadrian's Wall was fortified by milecastles, small forts all along the length of the wall which would house soldiers of the Roman Army.

Hadrian's Wall was used to protect the Empire from outside tribes and also as a border point for the collection of taxes for the empire.

Hadrian's Wall was built by soldiers of the three Roman Legions stationed in Britain at the time. Inscriptions have been found on stone and pottery from Hadrian's Wall, of the Second, Sixth, and Twentieth Legions.
