Hadrian was born on January 24, 76 AD.
Hadrian became Emperor on the death of Trajan, in August, 117 AD.
He is known as one of the "Five Good Emperors", which consist of Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, and the two Antonines.
Emperor Hadrian had a love of Greek Culture and he is often portrayed in statues and on coins with a full beard, which at the time of his reign was a Greek Custom, most Roman Men preferring to be clean shaven.
Hadrian died on July 10, 138 AD at his Imperial Villa at Baiae, on the Bay of Naples.
